Student Learning Outcomes

Students graduating from this program will:

  • Outcome 1: Demonstrate competency in physical requirements, kinesthetic issues, geography, patterns of motion, health and wellness
  • Outcome 2: Produce all sounds required by the music, including effective articulation and pedaling.
  • Outcome 3: Demonstrate convincing phrasing with fluent range of dynamics, colors, timing, goal points
  • Outcome 4: Show fluency with complex rhythms, phrasing, syntax, historical issues, aesthetics, score reading, interpr’n
  • Outcome 5: Control instrument, designate effective fingering, voicing, velocity, acoustics, practice techniques, and memory
  • Outcome 6: Display commanding stage presence, deal effectively with nerves, project in different spaces

Student Learning Outcomes

  1. To present two high-level public solo recitals that are correct technically and artistically convincing.
  2. To demonstrate an understanding of (and be able to communicate about) the historical and analytical components of music.
  3. To reflect on and apply the broader dimensions of their own musical experience.
  4. To demonstrate the ability to research an original topic and present their findings in written and oral forms.
