Student Learning Outcomes

Students graduating from this program will:

  • Demonstrate foundational understanding of the structure of language, including phonetics, syntax, semantics, and how language develops and varies across contexts.
  • Identify and apply major theories of first and second language acquisition, especially in culturally and linguistically diverse learning environments.
  • Examine how language practices reflect and shape cultural identities and intercultural interactions, with a focus on global competence
  • Demonstrate knowledge of instructional methods, lesson planning, and assessment strategies appropriate for teaching world languages or English to speakers of other languages (ESOL).
