Graduate Certificate in Public Policy Analysis

The Department of Public Affairs offers a 12 credit hour professional Graduate Certificate in Public Policy Analysis. This certificate may be earned alone or in combination with another graduate degree at UMKC and is especially appropriate for those who seek an in-depth study of the practice and methods for analyzing and developing policy.

Admission requirements are the same as those required for admission to the department's regular M.P.A. program. Students in other graduate programs at UMKC interested in pursuing this certificate should contact the Bloch School Graduate Programs Office.

Student Learning Outcomes

Students graduating from this program will:

  • Recall and explain the basic rationales for public policies.
  • Apply rigorous research methods for evaluating policy.
  • Integrate elements of theory, methods, problem structuring, ethics, analysis and argumentation to generate reports useable in government and nonprofit management.
