Students who anticipate graduating must submit an application for graduation through Pathway by the published deadline for the semester in which they intend to graduate. The application for graduation in Pathway will close at 11:59 pm on the date stated below for each term. 

Graduation Application Deadlines by term:

• Fall: October 31st
• Spring: March 31st
• Summer: June 30th 

Commencement is optional and participating in commencement does not mean that a degree has been awarded. The application for graduation initiates a degree check. The degree check is conducted following the recording of final grades for the semester in which the student anticipates graduating. All degree requirements must be fulfilled, including documentation of all requirements in UMKC Registrar’s Office before the next semester after anticipated graduation begins. Diplomas will be delivered by mail. Most will be delivered approximately 6 to 8 weeks after the end of the term; however, extenuating circumstances may cause others to take longer. Diplomas will be mailed to the address provided at the time of application for graduation. Replacement and duplicate diplomas can be ordered for a small fee from the UMKC Registrar’s Office.
