Student Learning Outcomes
Students graduating from this program will:
- Analyze and articulate the steps involved in taking a podcast from concept to publication.
- Create professional-quality podcasts that reflect thorough planning, content development, and production standards.
- Evaluate and apply ethical principles in podcasting, aligning with the best traditions of American broadcast journalism.
- Research, formulate, and conduct interviews that adhere to professional standards in journalistic practices.
- Demonstrate and apply effective on-air and on-camera presentation techniques, utilizing tone, pacing, clarity, and body language to engage and inform audiences.
This is a 12-credit hour certificate would benefit students from across the University with interesting stories to tell.
To be granted a certificate students must achieve a grade-point average of at least 2.0 in the 12-hour program described below. No credit will be given for courses in which the grade is below C-. This certificate may only be awarded in conjunction with a UMKC undergraduate degree.
